blogg for week #4
I just finished reading the article "Turing's Cathedral." It was interesting. Its contents were so detailed that I fear I did not grasp the total depth that was within. The comparisons the article made between Artificial Intelligence and humans' brains and nerves, were really interesting. People understand so much of what intelligence is, that it will be really intereting to see how they might similate it. It talked about Riboflavens which copy DNA, and compared them with how computers are able to copy and transport information. I thought it was also really interesting some of the quotes people have made in the last century, knowing that society was moving closer to creating AI. The article spoke of this path our world is moving in as being unstoppable, but not a bad thing. They said that computers gaing more intelligence could aid society. I saw the movie iRobot a couple weeks ago, and some of the things that happened in that movie keep popping up in my mind reading these things about AI. I definately think that movie was a little far-fetched (though interesting for a film plot), but it will be interesitng to see how this AI that's developing will continue to affect our world.
